Lucy Breaks a Promise" is an open door Canadian Historical Romance set during the War of 1812 in Upper Canada.

“Lucy, we’re not confident, like, that you’ll make a good choice.

You’ve been sad, yes, and sad lassies don’t know what’s what when

choosing a husband. We’s worried you’re going to

pick some turnip who’s lousy in the sack.”

UPPER CANADA, 1812, Americans have declared war, and Lucy finds herself alone, stranded on the wrong side of the ocean, with a dead husband, and a ticket back to poverty if she doesn’t pick a new husband in four days.

What’s a girl to do? With nothing but the help of a few illiterate perverts for friends, she decides the only solution is to line up the men and pick one. Meet Wolf Wegener, handsome farmer, local militia, and wearer of tight leather breeches.  Loyal to her deceased soldier husband, Lucy promised herself to never love again, but can she keep that promise when faced with an infatuated husband who romances her with passion that she has never experienced before?

Initially seduced into a fog of desire, Lucy soon learns that her new husband is not all that he seems. With the threat of further American attacks, can Lucy intervene in time?

LUCY BREAKS A PROMISE is not about choosing sides, it’s about finding one’s happily ever after through comradery, love, and the understanding that we’re stronger together.

About the Author

Jessica Fitz loves romance novels, cats, researching primary historical documents, dressing up for reenactments, anything Canadiana - especially Canadian comedy - and idioms that insist on being ridiculous. She wishes we could bring back bonnets, because she’s not friends with the sun. She was inspired to write her own romance stories after the open door scenes had inexplicably been ripped out of almost all of the romance novels in her local library.
